How to directly connect alpine HU to battery?
Hey all,
I want to install my system asap. Here's my setup:
Alpine HU 9813
JL w6
JL 500/1 amp sub
JL 300/2 amp Components
Polk Audio db6501(upgrade in the future)
Now, that I have all the audio equipment. I need to buy an amp wiring kit for 2 amps. Speaker wire for the components/sub/tweeters(how many feet?), RCAs (2 or 4 channel/how long?), battery connectors(which ones), amp turn on wire.
Here's what I'm eying:
Brand New Monster Cable MPC P300 Bap1000 1000 Watts 300 Series Dual 4/8 Gauge Amplifier Power Kit
Monster Cable 300 series amp wiring kit for 2 amps
Monster MPC S302 2C-15M Extra Low Noise 2-Conductor Speaker Wire (15 meters)
Do I need 4 conductor speaker wire or is 2 fine?
Monster S302
For my head unit it says to connect it to the battery. How do I do this?
Also, do I need a ground distribution block because I'm running two amps?
Thanks

1. Congrats on your audio equipment purchase.
2. That amp kit includes will do it for you for the electrical portion. this should come with battery connectors, unless you want to change the whole end of your current battery terminals. You don't need to use a grounding block unless you can screw it into your chassis directly. You should just ground it to any bare metal chassis point.
3. length of RCA cables, they are normally pretty long... about 5-7 meters... depending on where you buy from.
4. Speaker wires is about 25-30 meters depending on where you will put the amps. extra is always good. Only need a 2 conductor speaker wire (+ / -). one twisted pair will connect from amp to crossover, from cross over you should use the cables supplied from speakers because they are normally attached.
5.amp turn on wire is going to be the blue wire on the aftermarket deck labeled: REMOTE. This is a 12v trigger that turns on the amps, turns off the amps when the car is off.

I'm about to order my amp kit..
I was looking into this for my system.
KonFUSED 2 Way Distribution Systemdistro block
But it says to select a fuse size. Should I pick the size based off my amps? The JL 500/1 is 50A and the 300/2 is 40A.

I found the answer for the d block fuse question I had.
Here's my order it should come within a couple of days...
Kolossus Fleks 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit $59.99
Karma SS 12 Gauge Speaker Wire $7.50
NEW Karma SS 2 Channel 6 Meter RCA Cable $14.49
Kolossus Fleks Kable 4 Gauge Black Power/Ground Wire $4.65
Kolossus Fleks Kable 4 Gauge Blue Power/Ground Wire $6.20
KonFUSED 2 Way Distribution System (50A,40A) $14.99
Gold Plated 4AWG Ring Terminal -Black $1.98
Total:
$123.79
Can someone answer this question:
I have an alpine HU (9813) and right now it's not directly connnected to the battery. How do I connect the wires(which ones)? I know I need to use a 10 gauge fused wire but where do I connect it on the HU?
Thanks.

the reason Alpine suggests wiring directly to the battery is that the
headunit's internal amp is more powerful than many, and hence
draws more current. However, as you're using external amps
you won't need the internal one, so the headunit won't draw much
current.
one other thing - you mention buying a single 2-channel RCA - you'll
need at least 3 channels (left front, right front, and mono sub), and
most people would actually run 2 channels to the sub amp rather
than combining L+R going into a single RCA... You can either add a
second 2-channel RCA, or possible substitute a single 4-channel if the
ends can reach both amps.

I misinterpreted your shopping list up above - I'm guessing you
were listing just the individual products rather than the actual
quantities of each. Two 2-channel RCAs are perfect.
