How to change out speaker wire?
Hello,
I'm going to install a jl 300/2 amp for the components. Is there a DIY for this? I'm going to change all the speaker wire in the car. Do I just replace the current wire with new speaker wire? Like change the speaker wire for the tweeter with new wire? What about the side speakers... do I just attach new speaker wire from the harness to the speakers? Lastly, what speaker wires do I connect to the amp?
Thanks

seems like youve never done this before
why are you changing out the speaker wires? Were they low quality or are they failing?
battery power cable -> amp
chassis ground -> amp
remote turn on from HU -> amp
woofer -> crossover
tweeter -> crossover
crossover -> amp
RCA from HU -> amp
good luck. There are DIYs in the FAQ thread with pictures for everything if you get lost

I already installed the components and they work fine... I'm just adding an amp to my system and changing out the factory speaker wire.
I made a diagram for wiring a new amp. So, I don't need to connect the new speaker wire to the headunit?

your diagram is correct - new speaker wires simply go from the amp
to the crossovers. When you run the new speaker wires into the
doors, you can just leave the OEM wires in place, but not connected to
anything at the door end. That way if you need to remove the amp at
some point you can easily go back to powering the speakers from the
headunit's internal amplifier.

You've probably already figured this out, but for two amps you can usually just
run the remote turn-on wire to one amp, and from there on to the other amp.
I'd recommend adding an inline fuse to the headunit end of that wire, as in many
headunits it's pretty easy to blow the turn-on circuit if the wire accidentally
grounds. The current supplied by that wire is very low, so use a 500mA - 600mA
(0.5 amp - 0.6 amp) fuse.
If the fuse blows, or you need to turn on more amps, you'll need to add a relay.
