Honda OEM Alarm
I'm looking to get the OEM alarm. Worth it?
One question...when you lock the doors with the remote does it beep the horn with the alarm installed? If so, can I disable that?
I come home late sometimes and don't want to disturb neighbors.
Thanks

don't get the oem alarm, it is useless. All factory alarms can be disabled by the key cylinder, which both you(with key) and the theif(with a screw driver) can do...
The laser cut keys are harder to play with, but experienced thieves can still unlock it with a screw driver. Just go with a good aftermarket

So what is the difference between what comes with the S2k from the factory to what dealer is selling as an accessory security system? I just dont get it. Clarify, when I use my key Fob to lock my car at the present time aren't I securing the doors, trunk and hood of S2k, in other words, if any of the listed areas were forced opened wouldn't the horn/lights sound off on the car.
Please explain

A Honda accessory alarm is available that will go off if you open a door, trunk, or break the glass while the alarm is armed. There's also an optional hood switch if you want it. It will honk the horn if the alarm is triggered. You can let the dealer install it, or do it yourself in an afternoon.
IMO, the primary benefit is the blinking LED. Nobody pays attention to a horn or alarm siren these days, but the simple blinking LED may deter a petty thief. Up to you if you want aftermarket alarm vs. OEM. Either one will serve this basic function.

the problem with an oem alarm is cost, and it's in the exact same place on every car, so defeating it is not that tough.
find a good shop that wires an aftermarket alarm directly to the battery, make sure you have a hood pin, and that it's set to only go off if someone messes with your car.

My MY07 seems to have a siren alarm. Bought it brand new fromt he dealer also. A couple times when wiping dry the roof and pressing down a little too hard a siren alarm started to beep (Not the horn).
I always thought all OEM Honda stuff didn't have a siren.

I don't know about '07, but on my '02, the alarm siren wasn't available. Actually, the alarm itself could support a siren, but the wiring harness specific to the S2000 did not allow for it. Either that changed somewhere over the years, or maybe your dealer installed a different product.
