Thumbs up Help with New System

I just installed a new sound system in my S about a week ago. So far I have:

HU: Alpine iDA-X001
Speakers: Focal K2 Power 165 KF
Amp: Alpine PDX-4.150

It sounds great, but I have come to the conclusion that it needs some more bass and am looking to add a sub into the mix. I have a couple of questions:

1) Does my amp have enough power to power a 10"-12" sub?
2) Which sub(s) would you recommend?

If it helps any, I will probably be enclosing this sub in the trunk well, as most people do. I looked through the FAQ and used the search feature, but still couldn't find what I was looking for. Sorry if this is painfully obvious; I'm still learning the ropes here

Thank you for your time

get your sub enclosure from here http://www.darksidesubs.com/ . A lot of people run these and I also plan on getting one. They recommend a 10 or 12 inch alpine type R sub for the enclosure but you can get whatever sub you want. I am not sure if your amp has enough power for your sub. I'm sure an Ej will chime in. Good Luck

I think you should be fine with the PDX-4.150 amp. I have one also which will power Focal K2P components and a JL sub. I know and have seen at least 3 others that use this amp alone to power a pair of components and bridge channels 3 & 4 for the sub on this site.

Thank you for your help with all this.

To answer your question bent, it works really well from what I can tell. The best part about it is the fact that it is so small, a huge plus with a car as small as the S2000. You can also stack a couple of them on top of each other off to one side of the trunk without having a problem with them fitting. I only have one, but the Alpine website says it's possible and certainly looks possible from the size of the amp and the dimensions of the area. I got mine from Car Toys for around $600 I think. Up there in price for sure, but its small size sold me on it. I would recommend one to someone looking for an amp.

i had 3 pdx amps in my old civic si... 2. pdx1.1000 and 1 pdx 4.150.... the 4 channel amp that you have will not be able to handle the subwoofer along with the interior speakers... you would have to pick up another amp...thats a personal opinion... i think the crossovers and sound of the amplifier arent meant for a sub... let alone the power... and also i dont believe the channels on the pdx 4.150 are bridgeable... if someone has bridged that amplifier... they have it incorrectly hooked up

here are the bridged specs according to the alpine site for pdx 4.150
Brigded 4 ohms: 300W x 2 (<=1% THD+N)

i stand corrected... maybe they changed it... because i got them right when they came out, and there was a big problem with bridging and ohms... thats why i got rid of them...

I think that's what I'm going to end up doing. I have enough open channels to bridge them, and that is enough power for a 10" sub. Thanks for your help!
