Default HELP battery drain 70mah w/ radio, 10mah w/ radio fuse OUT

just bought this '00 s2k about a month ago. when i bought it the guy said it just needed a new battery, because it would start weak. seemed reasonable. replaced battery and still started weak. then replaced starter... still starts weak but always started since replacing the starter 3 weeks ago. last night it wouldnt start at all (slowly tried to crank, headlights killed radio... definitely low battery power). checked for parasitic draw and I'm getting about 70mah. if I pull the radio fuse it drops WAY down to 10mah which is in the range of acceptability. so the problem is definitely on the radio fuse. if i pull the radio out (aftermarket sony with modifry dci) then my draw drops back down to 10mah. as soon as i plug the radio back in (even with everything off) it jumps back up to 70mah. i checked the voltage on every pin on the radio and the only one that is drawing ANY voltage is the yellow (originally white/blue) which is the constant power source... so it should be drawing there... right?

in short...

10mah draw with radio disconnected (same results by physically removing radio and/or pulling radio fuse)
70mah draw with radio connected
radio pulls 11.5V (weak battery voltage) only from correct yellow constant 12v wire
no other wires on radio pull any voltage

Is there an amp installed? I know you have settled on the HU but I haven't. If there is an amp try disconnecting the amp sense wire alone and see if the parasitic draw drops.

i ended up bypassing the memory wire and all is fine now... i never listen to the radio, only files on usb drive, so it doesnt matter too much that it resets every time i turn off the car. i think it just has a bad radio in it.
