Headrest Speakers Install and Aftermarket Headunit
The dealership finally heard back from Honda with detailed install instructions for the 04 headrest speakers.
They are claiming an 88 step process that takes 4 hours!
This makes me nervous. It seems to me that the job should involve simply mounting the speakers, running wires down, and plugging them into the existing rear speaker harness.
My stereo installer wired the headunit to the factory rear speaker harness.
I'm hoping and assuming that the aftermarket headunit won't have any trouble running these speakers, which I read are 8 omh bridged to make 4 ohm. The components and sub are being powered off a 4 channel amp.

It has been posted somewhere on here how to do this. I think if you pay for 4 hours of laber you'll be quite well ripped off.
This show's you how to do it. I'm sure a professional installer could do it better for cheaper.

IMO the s pods are a better deal.

I am not paying extra for installation.
I think the speakers, assuming the quality is reasonable, are going to be just in the right place. Just enough to make voices easier to hear without having to play it really loud.
Though I'm not paying for the install, I'm worried about the 88 step and 4 hour claim. What are they going to do with my car that takes so long? If they think this is such a difficult job (I could do this job as I understand it in an hour), then will they freak out because I have an aftermarket headunit?
I can't reconsile what I know about the install posted by Lucid and the 4 hour claim from Honda. Makes me worry that I'm missing something important. That or they are greatly exagerating the time in order to rip people off.

to get 88 steps.. they probably have this..
1. walk to vehicle
2. take out key
3. unlock car
4. open door
5. put key into ignition
6. turn ignition to position 2
.... etc
i think if you have done your stereo job.. you can handle the rear speakers
