Head Unit Antenna Problems
I've finished up my audio upgrade, nothing too special, and everything works flawlessly, except for one problem with my head unit.
I have the Sony DSX-S100 head unit, and I wired it up per instructions provided by Crutchfield, and it works great. But I hav to keep my antenna wire disconnected. When I plug the antenna wire into the back of the unit, it powers up, but when I hit the source button, the unit beeps a few times, then powers off. But unplugged, it works fine, just no radio. Anyone heard of this problem, or might know how to help?
Also, I believe it's related to the head unit install, I've lost my dash lights for the AC controls. The green fan speed lights work, but the back lights for the buttons don't come on.

I have a feeling you hooked up the dimmer wire from the Sony Harness... bad.
hoping you used a wiring harness instead of cutting the originals....
you only need to connect:
yellow (12v constant power)
red (5v power)
black (ground)
Speakers:
white and white stripe
gray and gray stripe
purple and purple stripe
green and green stripe
s2ks do not use a powered antenna so you should not have tapped the blue wire labeled ANT. Also you are NOT suppose to hook up the PINK or ORANGE (dimmer) wire. I normally cap these off to prevent things from connecting. If you are running an amp, normally a blue with white stripe wire is labeled remote, this needs to be ran to the amp to turn on the amp when the deck is on.

Yep, I hooked up the dimmer wire, They gave me a harness, but I still needed to splice the harness to the unit. So if I unhook the dimmer wire, it should work fine?

Just to correct one point - the s2000 does in fact have a powered antenna. The antenna has a signal
amplifier that will not function without connecting the blue power antenna wire from the headunit to
the blue wire in the adapter harness.
To the OP - when you say it doesn't work with the antenna wire plugged in, do you mean the blue wire
in the harness, or do you mean the actual separate (thick) antenna wire?

Lol. Thats for motorized antennas. You may have a bad antenna or something. I know when people try to steal these they bend them and brake some.

I fixed it. I was talking about the actual antenna, not the wire to signal the amp. I unhooked the orange wires, and the radio works now. But my dash lights are still out. I'e checked my fuses, but they all check out okay.

a powered signal amplifier. It's not an opinion, it's a checkable fact.
