Has anybody else tried rear speakers and then gone back to stock?

Yeah, the midrange definitely seems stronger when I cross them over higher than 80Hz (I experiment using my Alpine's HPF). It's just so nice to be able to get lower frequencies into the cabin w/out having to go through the trunk. Otherwise, I'd let the Focals cover just the higher frequencies. But now that I've heard/felt the extra bass, I can't give it up. I wish I had a sub in the cabin w/ me! What are you doing for bass, mgiang7?

wrong thread, sorry. 100W RMS is what I'm feeding them and it is more than enough, no need to double that, IMO.
You're right about the bass. Sometimes when I have to remove my sub I lower the crossover down to around 55 to get some more bass. I don't play them that loud at 55, though. Normally with the sub in the trunk, I crossover at around 120 and I can play them as lound as my ear drums allow.

Oh, I've seen the Mini under your name, but I didn't really put two and two together. I'm familiar w/ the layout and small trunk space; my sister has a Cooper (non-S). Did you know that JL just came-out w/ a Stealthbox for your car?

alright guys, going back to the real question now, I also had my rear speakers installed about a month ago ,and yesterday I just disconnected them and went back to stock. I had alpine 2 ways on my rear, pioneer 3 ways replaced my 02' stock 6.5", stock tweeters, and stock head unit.
The rears definately added volume when the top is up or down, but after listening to it for a whole month, i figured that the sound stage is really off and that is not what I wanted.
After removing my rears, there is more power to my front speakers so now I have more bass, but of course in the mean time I loss quite some mid range and volume used to come out from the rears. However, I am happier now compared to with the rears since I never listened to my newly installed fronts by itself with the enough power hooked up.
Again, I know there is an on going debate about whether to have the rears or not, so this is really about your personal preference. Just want to share my experience with the rears and without and hope not to get flamed.

How do I disable the the tweeters in the rear? My apline 2 ways are coaxils not components? is there any way to do that on coaxils??
