Angry Harness (Stereo Adapter) Question

I just started putting my dci and alpine 9857 together. I'm alittle confused because there is a ground (black) wire on the harness. I got the modifry harness, so I connected the thin long ground to the ground wire on the dci. But now I'm not sure where the other ground coming out of the harness is suppose to go. I know that the ground from the alpine harness is suppose to be bolted to the car. Any idea where the ground from the harness should go? Should I splice that ground into the ground on the alpine harness then bolt it down? Any help is always appreciated! Thanks,

Rob

I may be a little confused because it sounds like modifry's harness has
two ground wires - I thought the only difference in his harness is that
it includes the mute switch and dash switch wires which are missing from
most aftermarket harnesses.
many headunits are grounded through the car's harness, so that's why
the aftermarket harness has a ground wire. presumably because your
Alpine is relatively powerful, they've given you a larger gauge ground
wire to ground somewhere else. thus you should either hook up the DCI
ground to the harness ground wire, or if there's another one for the DCI,
then just wrap the extra one in electrical tape and leave it with nothing
connected to it - it's grounded at one end by the car's harness, you don't
need to ground the other end.

I spliced the ground wire from the DCI into the larger diameter ground wire and then bolted it to the chassis. Works fine.

Hey Fellas, thanks for responding. The modifry's harness has the regular sized ground coming from it, and right above that, is a thinner, longer ground wire to hook up with the dci. I was thinking that the car harness already was grounded, so I was just gonna leave it off. But I just figured that I mine as well just ground it anyways. I'll probably just put a ring terminal at the end of it and bolt it down with the alpine harness ground. Thanks again!

The bigger ground is for connecting the HU's ground wire to it. If you ground the HU wire itself (instead of connecting it to the harness adapter) then don't worry about it I guess.

Thinking about that, it does sound right. I guess the dci ground will be grounded through the car harness. Thanks for the input!
