GPS hardwire
I have the Garmin c340 and would like to hardwire it next to the left a pillar. I have seen that pic with where to plug it in. My question is what exactly do I need to do the instal? When i go to radio shack I need to know exactly what to buy. i dont have much knowledge in this area.

Some of the Garmins are 12-V devices. You can check this with the A/C adaptor for your c340 (it'll say on the transformer, that black box on the cord) and/or in the literature.
If it's a 12-V device, then all you need is a plug that'll fit into the c340 with a two-wire cord on it and knowledge of which of the wires is hot and which is ground. The +/- sense of the plug is usually shown as a little picture on the adaptor and/or the unit itself (it's either the center pin or not, and there's no telling without the picture or some esoteric knowledge of codes and so on).
With this, you'll be set.
Now, if this isn't enough information for you, there's a chance that you'll blow the c340 up by hooking it up backwards. Therefore, either you can wait for someone else's instructions, possibly more detailed, or take it to a car stereo place, where they'll be able to get this figured out for not much cash, I'd think. The latter will be safer. HPH
