I put Lucid rear speakers (3-way Kenwood) and Lucid Door speakers (2-way Kenwood) in my 2002 and, although the sound was noticeably better, I was still not happy with the audio. There was virually no bass and distortion was obvious at higher volumes (like with the top down).

My first inclination was to put an amplified sub-woofer in the car, but after hearing several s2000's with amplifiers in them (and no sub-woofers) at FC2002, I decided to try an amp first.

I spent from 3pm until 9:30pm waiting for the stereo shop to put in a 4-channel Alpine 40watt RMS amp - they said it was only going to take 2 hrs, but it took over 3 times that - I'm glad I didn't attempt it myself! The sound is truly awsome now. MUCH more bass - nothing compared to a sub-woofer, but frankly, a sub would probably have been too much bass for my liking.

i thought the HU of MY2002 has more power than the MY before, it's still not powerful enough after adding the rear speakers?

 

Yes, MY2002 HU's do have more power. The rear speakers made a difference, but it just wasn't that good. The amp made a HUGE difference. I suspect if I had it to do all over again, I'd put a 4-chanel amp in first with new front speakers and see how that sounded. Then I'd put in the rear speakers if needed.

I have 4 infinity speakers and looking for a better sound and a little more .
