Exactly right. It depends more on the sub and the enclosure than necessarily how much power you put to it.

I don't think I've ever run more than 400W/sub and it's been more than enough in any vehicle I've ever owned. Remember, balance.
What kind of sub and enclosure do you use?

I'm waiting for the trunk well enclosure from WLaurent. It's going to have my IDQ 12 flush mounted with a grill over it so I can still use the trunk.

I could not pass up the deal on the amp, bought it with a brand new rockford wiring kit for 200$. I just need my door speakers, pick them up this weekend. Also need RCA's, box and sub.

I don't run a sub. Just an amp where the spare tire was on a rack from member PaS2kNut.

I just put in an order with william (wlaurent) at darksidesubs.com for a v2 enclosure. seems like a steal to me i'm grateful he's selling these things.. since he is able to reproduce the same box he's got great prices compared to what the local's would want to make a one-off just like it.

local shop was going to give me the jl stealthbox for what he said was barely above his cost ($460.. i think retail is like $650) so that is $290 for the enclosure itself and $170 for the 10w3v3 it comes with.. but its in the tool well.

with the wlaurent box its only $185 for the box plus the $170 10w3v3 so i save over a hundred bucks plus i like the location better having it on the side instead of the well anyway. should work perfect for me.

the shop wanted $300 to build a comparible side mount box so that would put that option up in the same range as the jl stealthbox deal anyway and would just take longer with my car sitting in install limbo.

william is alright in my book.

now i just need to decide on the amp and component combo i'm going to use cause i still can't decide if i want 165k2p's with 176w per channel or 165vr's with 123w per channel.. damn damn damn..
