Get Headunit? or Not?

Get Headunit? or Not?
Ok, I have been poundering this question.
This is what I want:
Amp'ed 4ch sound w/Sub in the Rear.
I'm only trying to figure out to replace the head unit or not? I wish to hear from people who have installed "PAC OEM-2 4 Channel Line Converter"
I have read that many of you have replaced the headunit and used a "PAC SWI-X" or some other mod to keep the functionality of the dash controls intact. What has worked best?

Well, you can always get a Sony head unit and use my DCU (Dash Controls Unit) to allow your dash controls to continue to work. You have to have a sony though. See the following thread for details:

S2Kman's DCU is the most advanced device for to control dash controls for Sony brand head units. You'll have multiple functions beyond the 4 button setup.
PAC OEM-2 is the best line converter out there. It adds a 2 second trigger for your amp to avoid popping on the remote on wire.
PAC Swi-x is more like a universal remote allowing you to use MOST wireless headunits (must have IF remote). You can program the 4 buttons to do anything the remote does.

I'd suggest a new head unit with 3 sets of output and "PAC SWI-X". Use the 3rd set of output for lucid's rear speakers (not amp'ed) for rear fill. I was not very happy with the way my focal seperates sounded with the stock head unit (not amp'ed) - it was worst than stock. Then I put in a sony head unit and what a difference! I haven't put in the amp yet (I've got a PPI), but it already sounds great and if I did not already have the amp I think I could have lived without it. I'll be installing the sub with an RF amp this weekend along with the PAC SWI-X (which I got from lucid).
