You need to make an mdf spacer for them to work. Look to the ICE/ audio forum for directions.

Go to a local car audio shop, they should be able to sell you one. I have focal 165 k2p and
it did fit with the spacer.

If you want to make one, it's pretty easy. You can, for instance, just get a jigsaw and a small sheet of 3/4" thick MDF from Lowe's. The MDF is just a few bucks. Trace the perimeters of the factory plastic thingie the speaker is bolted into and the inside speaker diameter with a sharpie. This will give you cutting outlines. It will be a roughly donut type shape. Cut it out with the jigsaw, then paint it or seal it if you want to. That's your spacer. Pre-drill holes for the mounting points, then screw it to the door, and screw the speaker into it.

I will be installing the less expensive Polyglass 165VR in my S. How deep of a spacer did you use for your installation? I'll check the depth specs of the 166 k2p. I suppose I could pull my door panels and check, but I would prefer to get everything I need ready before hand. If the answer is already available why not . Thanks in advance.

Don't use MDF, or if you do make sure you seal them really well. Use a hard wood, or starboard.
