Default Experience with Pioneer Premier?

I will admit that I am totally green when it comes to car audio. What I do know is that I can turn a wrench and I like good quality music.

I did a little shopping and was really impressed with this Pioneer speaker the
TS-C720PRS
I heard them A/B'd against some Dynaudo 240GT's and I thought they were very close in sound for 1/2 the price!

Here is my question. What experience to other have with this speaker? How much power, I'm considering running a JL Audio 150/2 amp.

How is fitment? I noticed someone here sell spacer rings for the doors, these speakers are 6 3/4 will they be a drop in fit for an '04 S? How about the tweeters? will they fit in the stock tweeter space?

Do people mount the cross overs in the door or somewhere else?

Thanks for the tips

Andy

For the money, they may not be a bad buy. If your not huge into car audio, and you just want something that sounds decent, and you like what you heard, then id say go with them. Im not a huge fan of Pioneer products, but for midrange price speakers, they do the job. I do like their new line of headunits, and considered one of them when purchasing recently. Im not for sure if these speakers you are questioning about are just coaxials, or components. If they are just a coaxial (1 piece speaker) i dont think you are really going to need that big of an amp for them as would most likely be overkill. If they are components (2 piece speakers) then i would recomend the amp. If you want my opinion for speakers i recomend, the two brands would be JL, or Alpine. I have JL coaxes running of the headunit in my wifes civic, and Alpine components in my S with a 300/4. I like both very well.

Thanks for the comments. They are component speakers with a separate crossover network. They are currently Pioneers top of the line and list for $550.

Premier quality is tons better than the standard Pioneer stuff. I haven't heard these particular speakers, but it should sound good.

If your willing to spend $550, id deffinetly go with Alpine or JL. i wasnt aware they were that much. As to the measurements, you may want to actually see if they are right on. Some companies claims to sizes are actually smaller/bigger than what they say when you go to install them. That or ask the place your buying from if they have ever done these speakers in an S, or check with the stores installer before purchasing to see what he recomends.

You'll have to cut the stock mounting or make your own for a 6.75".

Mikes2k has a 7" mid. Mine are 6.5". Also, look at the depth of them, it should fit though.

You might try Crutchfield's website. They keep a big spreadsheet of what components (that they carry) fit which vehicles.
