Eazy speaker replacment?
Okay here is the deal: My car was recently damaged in a flood. The speakers are one of the many things being replaced. So I thought this would be a perfect time to upgrade. I bought some three way 6 1/2" pioneer speakers (I'm sorry I can't remember the exact ones) the guy at Best buy said they would fit no problem. My mechanic, Marcello said my speakers will not fit without altering the car and that is not something they want to do (remember this is a Honda dealership installing my speakers). SO I need some speakers that will fit in the S2k without having to "cut" anything. What speakers will fit in the S2k without having to cut or change anything... baisically an exact oem fit, but a better quality than the honda ones.
I would tell them to just not install them at all, and then I would "cut" whatever needed to be cut and get the speakers installed myself, BUT when my car is finished, I want to make sure everything is working perfect when I pick it up... including the radio. So I would much rather just have some speakers that eazily fit.

Try searching... many people have discussed this in the past...
There are polks, sonys and kenwoods that all fit without cutting...
I've heard the sony's and the kenwoods and would say they are about even when run off the stock head unit... But I would stay away from the kenwoods for an amplified system.
For the Sonys check out Mac's page...

John,
If you are at our happy hour today, you can listen to the Kenwoods that I got from Circuit City for about $70. They dropped right in and were so easy to do that I can't beleive I waited 5 months. Amazing how much of an improvement just the speakers can make.

Kirk,
I'll be there, and look forward to listening to your kenwoods. Are they the "Kenwood KFC-1668S"?
As far as to my origional post: Apparently it isn't that big of deal to cut the basket, so I am going to tell the dealership that they have my permision to cut my baskets if that is the only thing that is causing the speakers not to fit. Does anybody else have the speakers that I mentioned? (again I'm sorry, but I cant remember the exact #'s on the speakers, but they were the newest 6 1/2 inch three way pioneer speakers). Do those speakers fit fine with just a little basket modification, or is there more to it than that? If all they have to do is cut the basket, I would rather them just do that; as that would save me from having to make another trip to Houston.

Okay. I figured out what speakers I bought (I looked on the receipt... DUH.)
They are the Pioneer TS-A1665 3-way 6-1/2" Speakers.
Here is a link to the speakers on the Pioneer website. So back to my original question. Do these speakers fit with just having to modify the basket? If so, I'm going to tell the John Eagle to use what I have already gave them.

Replaced stock speakers with the cool looking great sounding Sony xs-V1631 Xplod 3-ways. I can now listen to music loud and clear top up or down... Following the post on the install was right on traget. Thanks

Ditto, tried the Polk 1602's but they were not an exact fit. Went back to Cicuit City today and exchanged them for Sony XSV-1621 3-ways. Perfect fit. I liked the sound of the Polks a little more, but did not want to drill new holes. Installed, the Sony's are a 100% improvement with stock head.
