Default Dome Light Button

Hey fellas,

A little help here. Any suggestions on how to clean off the white residue on the dome light buttons and on/off switch? I tried using alcohol, vinegar, baking soda and nothing seems to work.

I tried scratching it off with my finger nails (right button) but as you can see, I'm still not able to get it off completely. Bummmmmed...

I have used a heat gun on a similar looking bumper cover to make it black again. If the button can be removed, it might be worthwhile to giev it a try.

Instead of using heat, get a "magic eraser" or scotch scrubbing pot pad and with a good cleaner sprayed on the pad, give a good wipedown. It does not have to be perfect. Then apply Cerakote. They come in pre-moist pad inside of a foil envelope. About $16 at Walmart. It will look like new for the life of the car. I use it on my other cars that have black plastic trim. Lasts years.

I took it apart and just lightly sprayed some SEM plastic dye. Not 100% perfect, but good enough that it no longer bothers me.

How did this hold up? I hate how the faded black plastic looks and this seems like a great fix.

Sorry if the format is wrong. I’m new to the forum.
