Thumbs up Does brand really matter?

I'm trying to buy an in-dash DVD for my S. There are 3 that are in my mind but other opinions are also welcome.

First one is the cheapest one ($179.99):

Second one is Jensen ($249.99):

3rd one is a JVC AVX2 by a private seller for $450. (used for 1 month, pretty much brand new with purchase receipts and 2 year warranty)

Now my question is, is the first one by Ultimate (apparently seems like some unknown brand) risky to buy? I know JVC is the best here but I don't like spending so much extra $ for something that's not justified. Please give me some suggestions. Thank you!

Reliability, reliability, reliability....buy cheap now....you may be replacing real soon. With the complexity of a mobile DVD and the environment we install in I would stay with a name brand...oh wait....I just did....my JVC KC-ADV38 is on the way...

Your 1st choice....NO WAY
Your 2nd choice...Jensen...not top quality

Nobody ever regrets spending a little more 6 months down the road when all is working.

Is 1 month old JVC AVX2's pricing at $450 reasonable? I want to negotiate further but I have not much knowledge in car electronics ><

I'll definitely make sure the warranty transfers if I purchase it. He's local and in Vancouver forum. As long as we get the warranty transferred, it should be fine. But I mean how does it work for car audio though... if it breaks down, you have to take everything out again and put it back after getting it fixed..?? I don't plan to install myself and have no idea how to.

Yes likely you would remove it and send it in for repair.

Time me, I'll have the deck out in under 90 seconds with a manual screwdriver. Power driver and it'll be under 30. You will be surprised how easy it is and should at least have the installer show you if you still choose not to install it yourself.

Too bad you weren't shopping last week at this time, Future Shop had a big discount on for one of the JVC models. I believe it was this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...10086225&catid= and it was priced at something like $450.

You might be able to talk FutureShop into it as they are good about extending sales. Also, if you buy something at regular price and it goes on sale in 30 days you show up with your receipt and they'll refund the difference without you even bringing the product in.

question is, why would you pay $450 used when you could get it for $335 new:

It's one of the reasons I want to move in US. The thing is, most of the websites with crazy deals ship to US residents at a low price or even free sometimes. When it comes to shipping to Canada, it's ridiculously expensive. Most of the things are relatively expensive here. There might be a chance that I will be able to negotiate it down to $350. Currently I've talked down to $375. Will $350 be a good deal?

And Mikey, thanks for your suggestion. $450 is definitely an awesome price for that but it's just out of my budget ><. Everything together with taxes and installation cost it's gonna go $600.

I think I'll be going with the JVC one but I just want some push from some ppl that it's a reasonable price and hopefully even some comments from people who've used KD-AVX2 before in terms of the quality.
