Does anyone have their cd changer mounted in the secret compartment?

AusS2000,
I just replaced my stock stereo on Saturday with Alpine equipment. The stock 2001 stereo is a Kenwood model, so I assume that that the stacker would be made by the same manufacturer. I located the Alpine 6 disc stacker in the 'secret compartment' where the stock 8 disc stacker was. It is amazing how small the standard 8 disc was, as I had to do a bit of 'butchering' to fit the Alpine 6er in to the same space...

RWIRSING371,
Yes, I had to cut the bottom out... Initially I thought it was a big deal, but in the end even if I was to re-mount the OEM stacker, no-one would know the difference as the OEM stacker has a face plate that fills the gap around the top/face of the stacker.
In short I didn't have to use any mounting brackets. With some real butchering of the 'secret compartment', I could ram the stacker in to the stage where it is almost impossible to move. Sounds dodgy, but it actually looks very neat and has not skipped a beat (yet!!).
At this stage I don't have any pictures as I don't have a digital camera, but I may get some taken tonight and post them in the next day or two.

I had to cut the bottom out and the changer is sitting flush against the floor panel. It *may* fit if you use all the space in the secret compartment but as I needed to relocate the headunit I didn't even tried it.
Do you need more pictures?

Luis,
What do you have in the stock stereo position?? I hope for your sake that you have a mod for the dash controls, otherwise it could get tedious changing radio stations/CDs etc all the time...
