DIY: Easy Bluetooth interface for stock radio
#21
The XM radio module uses the same connector that the Bluetooth adapter would use, so unfortunately it won't work. I looked carefully and didn't see another connector, and the one that is used for XM, plugs into the Bluetooth adapter so I guess when the car was sold way back in 2007, it was either XM or CD changer, not both.
If anyone knows of a way to connect both, please let me know.

VERY low volume when connected to bluetooth
Hi guys, thanks for the great tip on setting up bluetooth for an original deck. So, I bought the Yatour Bluetooth Car Adaptor discussed and have connected it to the CD changer plug per the instructions in this string and in the box. I can connect my phone to it on bluetooth. So far, so good. Trouble is, it is VERY quiet. My phone's volume is all the way up, and only when I turn the car stereo to full volume can I hear a whisper of the music being played. I've tried pushing the connection pins in tighter and they are all the way in. Have turned both car and stereo on and off a few times, but no improvement.
One possible issue: my CD changer comes on at Disc 3, Track 888 and won't move from that, even when I read the Honda manual and am sure I am hitting the right buttons (or any other button.........I've tried them all) to change CDs. The Yatour instructions say I should be on CD 1-1, but I cannot get the stereo to move to that. Another post in this thread said he was on CD 4 and it worked fine, so I don't know if this is a real issue or not.
Anyone come across this or have a suggestion? Many thanks in advance....

2 days later: stand down. Was able to get the CD changer to CD4 and all works great now.

Also, I learned early on that when I have the volume on my phone at max volume, the sound through the speakers becomes distorted when I have the volume turned up in the car. Slightly reducing the volume on my phone resolves this problem.

Fair question. Had been away from the car, turned it on again. Pressed the CD/AUX button to cycle through the choices: the CD player in the stereo deck is the first choice; CD 3-0888 came up as my second choice (i.e. the 3rd CD in the CD changer (if I had one), and song number 0888); pressed it again and it went to CD 4 and the bluetooth sound started coming out loud and clear. This last result (getting to CD 4) didn't come up earlier. While on CD 3 previously, the CD +/- buttons didn't do anything the way they would have if I had an actual CD changer, so I wasn't able to get to CD 4. Now I seem to be able to get to CD 4 in the way I described in a repeatable way.
Interesting that the instruction manual that comes with the Yatour Bluetooth Adaptor specifically says you need to get to CD 1, but that doesn't appear to be the case with at least a couple of the S2K's.

Is there a way to get this working on an AP1? I understand the CD plug is different but is the wiring different? I could possible change the plug of the Yatour dongle but I'd just need the wiring/pinning diagram.

But I believe there are other sellers of AP1 compatible bluetooth interfaces.
that looks like it would do the trick.
