diamond audio s600 has NO midbase w/ alpine HU?
Hi guys...
I got my new comp. speakers in last weekend and I haven't put in my old amp yet (kinda big - don't know where to put it yet). So, I figured I run the speakers from my old alpine 9813 and they would sound 'OK'. Well, I'm not sure that's the case now, there is NO midbase so the speakers sound 'tinty' or too bright.
I was just wondering if anyone had these speakers hooked up to an aftermarket HU and if they sounded like crap too.
It looks like I'm going to have to find a home for my amp (avionixx 400.2) - it's just kinda big and I really don't wanna take out the spare :/ I only hope they sound better with more power. The one thing I'm not using is baffels for the comps. I took out the stock basket and didn't have anything to put back around the magnet.
O well, just wondering

This may be a dumb question but did you try to tune them?
I don't quite remember but I don't think you can tune your cross-overs so I think you have to do it though the HU or amp. But that HU should be able to drive these.

darkknight1999,
No, didn't tune them - left them the way they were stock. But I thought the only thing you could "tune" was the tweeter? You could give or take power from it (-2db, 0db, +2db)
NFRs2000NYC,
That's what I figured, but the thing is, I can feel the air move, but there just isn't any bass :/ It's almost as if there is a high pass filter on it or something. *shrug*
I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and install an amp SOMEPLACE... now sure where tho - I guess a couple of cans of fix-a-flat is as good as a spare
More aperage here I come... just not sure when :/ it sure does sound like ass tho...
Thanks,
Rob
