Can anyone recommend a good indash unit that won't require getting rid of the AC vents behind the dash? I'm also wondering how you guys are mounting these units in the dash....custom brackets? Factory mounting holes?

I'm looking for a unit to start my install, and begin cutting, but want the right one and more insight.

That looks great - wish there were some in South Africa willing to do this work.

Had to bump this old thread, nice installs....

Here's a customers car from a while back:

For you guys that have cut your dash...

If I wanted to do a gauge setup similar to this, but with an angle to the gauges, is the dash vinyl of the type that I could stretch some with the aid of a heat gun so I could put angled gauge rings UNDER the vinyl before mounting the gauges? Or I could also try and find a panel that had angled mounts and put that in from behind, again stretching the vinyl over it.

If it could be done I think that could make for a super clean looking gauge install.

You should do a step by step instruction - so I can replicate here in south africa - just the other way around

You have it easy. The JDM bezel and box will fit with no modifications since you're RHD. Pull your dash, and you'll see the mounting points already there.

Yep - No problem.

It's an Alpine DVA-9861.
