dash controls

DCI controller from Modifry is much better.
PAC SWI-X doesn't do as much.
Modifry's comes with the mute switch installed, speed controlled volume as an option and is set to work with nearly any stereo you can fit in the S2000. Simple installation.

also, the PAC swi-x has a "delay" on it. it is also harder to install.
the dci costs more but is easy to install and has no delay. i got the sony one that plugs into the wired remote input. the regular dci uses IR commands.

The mute doesn't work and you may have to solder in some resisters to make the other dash controls work properly.
I have it and am looking into swapping it out for the Modfry multi-DCI with their S2000 harness. I have an Alpine 9820 head unit.

hi, here to add my input.
people in my area seem to like the dj qube one. theres a thread in here and on the buys. i met the guy in person at one of the meets. and he says it worx fine, and so do the other members that have it. one option that i saw that i thought was pretty cool was. the button for the audio mode, is replaced with a joystick type object, and it enables you to actually toggle left right up and down. for going through your mp3 folders, and fast fowarding and other goodies. that was unique in my opinion.

Joe,
When I first got my S2000, I quickly realized that the stock radio was not adequate to the task of being heard on the highway with the top down. Unfortunately, I was not yet aware of this group. I bought new stuff at a good local place, which did a good job of the install, using the SWIX interface.
It's ok as far as it goes, but it doesn't go very far. You lose a _lot_ of the functionality of the dash controls, such as the ability to switch between AM and FM and tuning to other presets. I found that I was regularly having to open the radio cover and do things direcly on the head unit, which kind of defeats the purpose of the dash controls. I also was annoyed by the long delay between when I punched a button and when something happened (some of which, to be fair, is inherent in the Kenwood HU I have).
On Friday, I installed my Modfry DCI, and I'm very, very pleased with it (as I am with the other Modfry electronic toys I have--the speedo calibrator and the redline shift warning beeper). I now can do anything from the dash controls that I could do with the head unit, and have the really nice added benefit of the speed volume controller, which automatically increases and decrease volume as you speed up and slow down.
I understand that the DJQube is a very fine controller, but it costs more than I was willing to spend for this purpose.
The DCI hardly costs any more than the SWIX, and it is worlds better.
