confused with amp / speaker ratings
Im looking at upgrading my sound system. im planning on using THIS amp, along with THESE speakers. The speakers have any RMS rating of 2-90watts RMS with a 2 ohm impedance. the amp on the front and rear channels puts out 125 watts rms at 2 ohms, and 85 watts at 4 ohms. is there a way to make these infinity speakers work with this polk amp, or could you recommend me another set of speakers in a similar price range that will work?
thanks
james
btw, ill be using the sub channel to power a 2 ohm JL 10w3v3 with 400 watts. got any other recommendations?

It appears that that amp would work fine for those speakers. Should have no trouble dealing with the 2 ohm load. 125/channel should be plenty. You cannot, however, bridge the 4 main channels to 2 and drive those speakers reliably. 250/channel to the mains is probably overkill anyway. Planning on using rear speakers in the back panels or in the roll hoops for the other two channels? You'll have to turn the gain way back for those channels.
That is a lot of jack, though, for an amp that is probably not configured the way you need it to be. You would be paying for more than you will be using.

I agree that 125w would be plenty, but im concerned that it would be too much and damage the speakers.
its a possibility for me to add rear speakers at some point, but im not sure.
and i also agree that crutchfields price on that amp is quite high, however ive found it for a much more reasonable price elsewhere, but they are out of stock
oh well,
thanks for the help guys!

today i did purchase a set of Polk MMC6500 Speakers from crutchfield for a good price. i also am looking at the rockford fosgate t110d2 subwoofer. i could wire it for 1 ohm and get the full 600 watts from that amp. what do you guys think of the rockford subs?

I wish you'd waited another day or so for me to put together some picks for you.
I guarantee I could build you a better system for your money than what you'll find at Crutchfield...
