Comparing Amps
Ok so my stereo was stolen out of my car, but they left my 2 sets of components and I will buy another 12" sub. I currently have Alpine Type-R 5.25 components in the headrests and Polk dB 6.5 components in the door. I had a JL 300/4 and a 500/1 but I would prefer something a little bit lighter. Would I be better off getting a 5 channel? I've been looking at the new Eclipse XA5000 which has 50x4 and 300x1. Will this be suitable for my needs? I've also been contemplating the new Alpine PDX 4.100 for the interior speakers and the Alpine PDX 1.600 for the sub. Any suggestions? Also my ALpine crossovers were stolen- any ideas where I can get a suitable, perhaps better replacement- hopefully passive?
Thanks

you can order cross overs from alpine , or I can order them for you. PDX amps are amazing but you pay for them. If you've got the cash do the PDX's. Also the eclipse one is nice but the power ratings aren't what you'd be looking for. If you could sell both sets of speakers and get a set of Alpine Type R 6 1/2's just for your front doors you'll be fine. Then you could just get the alpine PDX 150.4 , bridge the rear channels for 150 for each front and 300 for the sub.

that's why you do the PDX150.4 :-) one amp , takes car of everything.... but if you want a goood 5 channel amp if you can still find a phoenix gold TI amp that'll do you fine. I've got no point of view on rockford... don't really use them much , but then again I don't use much of anything best buy would carry :-)

I really like the headrest speakers at this point. My friend who owns the shop where my car is being fixed said he can get me the two Alpine amps (4.100 & 1.600) for under $600 through a friend that owns a stereo shop. Looks like that is probably my best bet. I guess that Eclipse amp doesn't make enough power

I suggest Elemental Designs. They just came out with a 5 ch amp and its only 500. Heres the link.
