Default CD Changer Location?

Sorry, I know this question has probably been asked 100 times, but the search is down. Where is the best place to mount a CD changer? A dealer installed is mounted in the trunk, I believe. If anyone has a picture of this they can post, I would appreciate it. I am mounting an Alpine CHM S600. Can it fit under a seat, and if so, is it accessible.

Thanks, David

the OEM is mounted in the trunk on the driver's side -- it works perfectly there --- I can't image it under a seat or anywhere else in this vehicle

With some modification I put the CD changer in the secret compartment.

I would like to do this. I tried to get access to the secret compartment but it would not come out. How many screws did you need to remove to gain access so you can mount the changer. Also were are they located. Thanks for your help JPit.

Here is a picture of my changer. I have it mounted to a board on the passenger side of the car. I used velcro to hold it in place and to date have had no problem with the changer moving or skipping. This way you don't have to drill any holes in your baby . I also built a cover for it. Hope this helps, however, I hope to move mine to the secret compartment.

The Alpine changer will fit underneath the drivers seat. I don't have mine mounted to anything, just some velcro to hold it down. Works surprisingly well!

Velcro?!? That sounds crazy, but if you all say it works it would be really cool to not drill anything in the trunk.

I was just about to mount my changer this weekend, so this post came just in time. Thanks!

Pas2KNut,

I didn't remove the compartment. I cut two 2" slots in the sides starting about 1 1/2" from top and continuing right to the bottom. The changer slides right in.

Here is a picture of the changer in the secret compartment. The other device is an XM radio antenna.
