It's just another point to charge.
Best thing to do, upgrage the big 3, it's cheap as chips to do, a larger capacity battery, or a dry cell battery like an Optima Yellowtop
All it consists of is a larger AWG wire going from Battery to chasis, Positive battery to alternator, and engine to chasis.
Reduces light dimming, and in a nutshell a better flow of current.

Better battery like you say WILL help in the long run. Upgrading an alternator i probably the last thing you need to do. Bigger battery gives you longer/better power output to the stereo. I upgraded to an Optima in an old car actually helped the bass thump!
Upgrading the power wires from the alternator to battery is probably not needed either. If you are running a 4 aug wire long as the connections are good that should be more than enough!
As for FUSE just add up the max amounts on the amps and fuse at the battery for that amount. It has no bearing on what your alternator needs to be. If your dash lights dim as the bass thumps then you have to start upgrading.....if it's not then you are fine!
