Ok, so I went speaker shopping today. Here's what I'm thinking now:

HU: Eclipse CD8445
Amp: JL Audio 500/5
Front Speakers: Focal 165 K2 in stock locations
Rear Speakers: Stock ... for now
Subwoofer: JL Audio 10W3 in StealthBox
Misc: iPod via Aux Input, Sirius Satellite Radio
Wiring: Streetwires ZN6

Those Focal's sound incredible. Can't wait to get this stuff installed.

I refuse to believe those streetwirez are any good. They are as thick as a strand of spaghetti. Knukonceptz are at least 10 times the size and have 6 layers of shielding. (they are like 5AWG thick)
Get these, youll be much happier.

vs

Look how thick the shielding is on the Knukonceptz ones....its thicker than the actual connector.

Many of us have them here, and have absolutely NO noise.

Here is a link to buy em...

Just to bust on Dave a little here...

But both of those wire use the same wire on the inside. Its just what amounts to Cat-5 network cable.
The Knu has a thicker rubber coating/'shielding' but it honestly will depend on what they shield with. Those street wires have a braided shield... which is nice but honestly if they have properly twisted conductors you won't get any noise anyway. Between the twisted pair conductors and the braided shielding... Either one of those will be nice.
The Knu wires have this and that shielding which is great but there's no need to triple shield it like that... unless your running them through a transformer.

As long as you run the cabling properly you really won't have much to worry about.

BUT the Knu wires are cheaper

Are those cables really that cheap?? If they are, and they still work well, then yeah - I'll be ordering them for sure.

I have a friend with the same HU running off an Xtant amp with MB's and it sounds incredibly clear even at volume 80 there is no sign of distortion or straining of the tweeters/woofer... (lets just say I can't stay in his car at full volume for more than a min...)

and the MB's are VERY bright... so your Country and Rap will carry well even on highways. I don't know about the mids though.

I listened to both the Focal and the MB's, and the MB's are a little bright, although I liek the sound, they just can't match the "naturalness" of the Focal's. We listend to a blues recording and the Focals sounded like you could turn to your left and order a whiskey from your waitress, it just put you right there.

I may be using the MB's in my wife's passat, which I still have to spec out.

I agree that the actual wire is the same size, but the shielding is not. However, although Ive never used streetwires, Ive used the Rockford RCAs that are exactly like these, and did have ground noise.

If it aint broke, dont fix it. Just my .02

I have a JL Stealthbox in my 350Z. It sounds good, but not great, and I mainly attribute that to the choice of 10W3 subs.

I won't do a Stealthbox with 10W3s again. IMHO JL should offer these boxes with 10W6v2s
