Better $150 component speakers: Alpine SPR-60C or Focal IS165?
Currently running Polk DB6501 components, and I'm underwhelmed. The tweeters are very bright, and the speakers distort once you start putting any real amount of power into them. That said, my Alpine amp has power to spare, and the Polks do sound better than stock, so I don't think I need a huge upgrade to be very happy with my setup.
Alpine SPR-60C and Focal IS165 both seem to be popular choices. Any other good options in the $150-200 range? I'd love to spring for the HAT Imagines, but they're $300 and I have yet to see them discounted anywhere.
Sub is the same story - I can probably get a Sound Ordnance low profile powered sub now, but I'd rather spend that money on my main speakers and get a real sub/enclosure/amp combo later, when I have the cash to do it right.
