saw it , it's nice on blueray , otherwise nothing at all... it's got a slow refresh rate because of the info it processes - so it kinda looks like a mouse trail looks.

Oh please explain...I'd love to hear this.

Pioneer is no longer the leader in plasma's, and for the past 5 years, Panasonic and Pioneer were considered the best...so....please explain why Panasonic sucks.

lol ready , this might be a little to much for you... panasonic uses a 3bar color wheel , red , blue , green... pioneer elite uses a 6 wheel that adds cryan magenta and yellow giving your better brighter color without having to mix 3 basic colors. The Gama settings on the eilte gives you better black levels and grey scaling , now if you can't reach the color BLACK which most plasmas and LCD's out there can't do , DLP's own this , but the pioneer elite owns the dlp. now if you can reach black then you have no scale of color considering the light spectrum goes from black to white , now if you don't have true black then you miss out on colors to the end of the spectrum. Basically saying that you can't see the differences between a tie , and a button on a tie without this. there's plenty more but for last since I need to get some sleep it has a faster refresh rate than any other tv on the market period. Meaning that you don't get a delay like when your watching a football or baseball game... the ball doesn't look like it's "trailing" as a mouse would have a trailer.... anything further??

Since the original poster is talking about a money no object scenario, fine, the Elite is the way to go...but that is not a secret.

The Pioneer Elite is 2x the price of a regular plasma. Compare apples to apples. Similar grade Pioneers vs Panasonics, always gave the edge to the Panny's. More over, for 99.9999999% of people, the extra 2% in image quality is worthless, but the $2000 you need to spend to get that is not. Any jackass can recommend the most expensive gear and call it the best, that's not that difficult.
"Hey, what car should I buy" ----> "Get a Veyron." You have to take money into account. The Panasonic UK series are some of the best plasmas for the money. They are going to come out with new screens with higher resolutions every week, but that doesnt mean people NEED it. The whole HD thing is totally overblown. You marvel at the quality for about a week, then it's just a TV. Believe me, I have 2 plamas. After a week, I forgot about them.

how about this one: WD-73833 : 73" for $3999.99

mitsu also uses six colors, but maybe you guys can shed light on it's weaker points. or how the elite is better.

s2000NYC has a good point. I would be willing to spend "a lot" more for a higher model if there is a huge benefit in quality. Usually there isn't.

I've usually been a fan of DLP's over plasma. Is there anything negative with the DLP's other than having to buy lamps every few years. To me that's just like higher maintenance on a better car.

Space is the biggest negative to DLPs. I love the fact that my plasma hangs on the wall, with no wires showing. I looks like a picture. Free's up a lot of room, which in NYC, is a premium.

mits diamond DLP's are amazing , probably the best DLPs. as far as picture quality goes projectors from runco will give you the best picture , then DLP , then 42'' and up would be plazma , 40'' and down is lcd.
