Best sub for the ebay box?
I regrettably sold my JL stealthbox. It sounded pretty good with a JL 350/4 pushing the sub and MB Quart Separates. I am purchasing a ebay 10inch box and was wondering if I should buy the box with 7 1/8 depth box or if I should pay more to add .75 more inches of mounting depth (7.8" TOTAL). Which sub would you all suggest?
Specs for box here:
This Enclosure is available for 1-10" or 1-12" subwoofer and with round or square holes. PLEASE NOTIFY US AFTER PURCHASE WHICH SET-UP YOU WOULD LIKE.
This box comes standard with 7 1/8" of mounting depth. We CAN ADD 0.75" of extra depth by request ($10.00 extra) This allows subs with depths up to 7.80" to fit.
As with all of our subwoofer enclosures we have designed this box to be easily installed into your car. The box is installed directly through the trunk opening and drops directly in to the tool well.(tool tray must be removed, yet the tools will still fit beneath the box)
Mounting depth - 7 1/8"
Mounting diameter - 9 1/8" for 10" subs and 11 1/8" for 12" subs (adjustable by request)
Total volume of airspace - 0.80ft^3 (adjustable by request - we can only make the airspace smaller)
Volume per chamber - 0.80ft^3
Chambers - 1
Style - Sealed (not ported)
Construction - Premium MDF
MDF thickness - 0.75"
Finish - Charcoal Grey Carpet (black available by request)
Terminals - 1

exactly mdf is very porous, and i think they only use 1/2
if you have seen the demo with a shop vac and a piece of 3/4 mdf, then 2 & even 3 pieces able to be picked up, sucking thru the mdf you would seal it!

i used to do custom cnc router/mill work and the machine we used used a vacuum table to suck down and hold the parts in place from the bottom of the work piece while the router came in and made its cuts on the parts. we would run mdf parts in various thicknesses for various jobs. when running mdf parts we used a 3/4" mdf spoil board to allow the parts to be completely cut through without cutting into the routers table. i wish i knew what the power output was on the vacuum pump we ran to know exactly how much vacuum it was putting out but the pump was around $18,000 when bought new and could put out some serious vacuum pressures. anyways the 3/4" mdf bored we could suck a vacuum right through the pores and through multiple other sheets on top. i know there is like a film layer on both surfaces of the new piece of mdf, its that shinny smooth outer layer. that layer if left in tact was difficult to pull a vacuum through but ones that outter layer was surfaced off of both side a vacuum could pass through very easily. i dont know how much pressure is being created inside a sub encloser but im sure the pressures must be the same if not less for most of the subs were s2kers run in our tiny trunk spaces lol. not sure about this just throwing out my experience and input. here is a picture of the anderson exxact cnc router that i used to run before the economy took a shit
