I did the same thing. Stuck the bass tube in the spare tire well. Worked great!!
If anyone's interested I'm selling my 8" powered bazooka tube cuz decided to do a custom box instead. PM if you want it for $60.

As the others did.
I bought some MDF from Home Depot, and traced the outline for the shape using the plastic 'lid' for the toolbox. Cut it out with a jigsaw, then used the gray carpet you buy from Home Depot as well (somes on a roll about 24"" wide). It matches the S2000 carpet almost perfectly. Then, I used contact adhesive to stick it down and mounted the Bazooka EL10A to that using the supplied nylon cords. It sits sideways in my trunk with the amplifier end facing the drivers side. Also, it doesn't move around at all........and I drive my SS2 HARD!!!
I used the sub imputs from my Sony stereo that go directly into the powered amplified of the Bazooka.
I am very happy with the sub. I only run it at about 4/10 on the sub dial, and the sub control on my stereo is set to 3/10, bass control to 4/10. It works perfectly with the roof up or down, and seem to get more bass when the roof is actually down.
Apparently, bass waves are like tidal waves. They get bigger (louder if you can call it that, as you 'feel' bass rather than 'hear it) the further away you are. That's why they say to face the Bazooka away from you and point it into the corner of the car. I haven't done that, but the sub sounds awesome. My spare tire is still fitted, and this has not impeded the bass 'flow' at all. Just nice, clean bass.
By the way, I got my Bazooka brand new from Ubid (www.ubid.com) for $105 (plus shipping) I seem to recall. There are a couple for sale right now. Just type "bazooka" in the search function.
Cheers,
