I just got my S2000 last and am already upgrading the audio system. It just isnt loud enough with the top down.

So far i have ordered Polk Momo MM6 components for the doors and will be getting either a 2 channel or 4 channel amp depending on what i decide to do.

I was going to just do the stereo input for the 2channel amp that i already have and keep the stock headunit for a while. I just dont feel like paying for the DCI and all of that hassle. Are my components going to sound bad with the amp ran like that? Should i go ahead and get the rear speakers too? Also, how does a single 10 sub sound in our trunk?

Thinks for any audio input. Im looking at the Alpine CDA9827 for a headunit if i decide to get one.

Ive read a bunch of post on here, but hadnt found anything about specifically wiring an amp up with stereo outputs or anyone wtih MM6 components.

Well, your speakers definetely wont sound as good as they can without a new head unit. Also, get a 4 channel or more amp so that you can upgrade later down the road....check out this thread......

Without headunit......GARBAGE IN----->Garbage out.

I also have a few similar questions.

1) Can you add an amp to the stock headunit?

2) How would it sound with the stock head unit, Infinity Kappa Components for the front, and an amp to power the speakers?

1) Yes you can.

2) Like crap. Ive done this many times, and It never comes out good. You will always hear a hisssssssssss when the sound is all the way down due to those stupid hi/low level converters. The Kappas are very sensitive to high frequencies, and the hissing will be more pronounced. Get a headunit to full appriciate the speakers. Worth every penny. There is no point of getting speakers like that and not giving them the best possible signal.

When you add an amp, does the RMS wattage going to the speaker equal that of only the amp or of the amp and the HU together?

Amp only, the HU power becomes useless. In fact, you are actually well served turning OFF the HU amplifier to improve sound quality.
