Honestly, I wasn't sure how to go about calculating the volume of such a custom shape. I was just going to give it a whirl and see how it sounds. It's close in dimensions to darksides which I believe are around .75 or 1.0 so I think it should be 'close'.

The smell is probably not noticeable assuming you have good ventilation. I can still smell it lingering in my car though. =( It is going away though, and I've only drive it for about 20 minutes since I did this project.

And yes, I've been using body filler + resin to make a nice spreadable goop. I need to work on smoothing everything out, reinforcing the box, and figuring out the best way to attach the MDF to the fiberglass.

Thanks for the comments.

I tried calling around its harder to locate than I thought.

What is the ratio you are mixing with body filler + resin?

^ Personally I use just enough resin to make it applicable with paint brush. Basically enough to make it somewhat liquid. Interested on others thoughts.

^Same. I water the filler down until it drips easily, but not watery.

Are you projected to use 2 gallons of resin?

The last box I built, I used 2 gallons. I just bought one tonight at (Home depot). After driving around, there wasn't any place cheaper or better quality. This the 3M All Purpose Resin.

I probably COULD use 2 gallons, easy. But I think I'll be using about a gallon.

But I'm not done yet.

Few more images from last night:

Wrapping another layer on the outside.

Can see once the resin applied you can see all the leftover green tape. It was really stuck on there, so I just said what the heck.

I doubt it will be an issue sandwiched between 3 layers of fiberglass and resin on either side... plus once I apply a layer of resin/filler mixture it will be visually be entirely covered up. Plus it's the back side, plus it will be covered in carpet, ect. Just looks quite gross right now. =)

Towel,

Looks like you been using fiber cloth all along. Did you ever use the fiber mat?

So you did about 3 layers of glass and 3 layers of bondo (mixed with resin)? You think you are done inside? .

Tell us how much the box weighs now.

Tnt
