Any flip up screen headunits work?
The few searches I have found show that it won't fit in the s2000 because of the dashboard right above it. However, now that they are getting so cheap (relatively), has anyone fabricated a way to make the cd player with the flip up screens to work? I'd love to have a nice DVD option without having to cut the dash or have it sit on a mount.
Sorry if its been answered before, I'm usually one of the ones to say to search in under the hood or s2000 talk, but I don't follow the electronics board very much and the few searches I found where old threads.
Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

I haven't heard of any new solutions myself. I would imagine the only way to get it to work would be to have the headunit mounted further out of the dash than normal to allow the screen to clear the dash above it. Doing this would then cause the headunit and screen to be right on top of the shifter. Not a good option IMO.

ya, I'd think even if you moved it far enough out of the dash to allow the screen to fit..I'd think the screen would hit the shifter when it was trying to open/close

Ya I was thinking the same, its a shame because they have really come down in price and I'd really like to mount in a screen for long road trips to the Dragon (for my passanger, not me) but I don't really want to have to cut into my dash.

There is someone on here that modified their dash to fit a double din dvd player and nav. I'm not sure how much was modified, but as far as I can see there wasn't any physical cutting. (There probably was some cutting behind the dash) I'm not sure who it was, but you should be able to find a couple of pics in the following link.

To fit any double din units in the stock place would require relocating the SRS system. Considering the complexity and dangerousness of that wiring, it should only be done by someone familliar with wiring air bag systems.

I was looking at it today in the car, I think it would have to stick out about an inch or two and then by a straight up screen (90 degree angle) to keep from impacting the shifter.

That would be the most ghetto solution to getting a screen in this car. With he screen at 90 degrees and that low, view angle would be much less than optimal. Plus, I think it would need to go out closer to 4-5" putting it on top of the shifter. Even if this was accomplished by moving the unit out a few inches, a fiberglass bezel would still need to be made, negating any benefit of going with the single din unit to begin with.
