Amplifier Question
Here's my potential setup: 2 front speakers and 1 sub powered by 1 amp.
Audiobahn A1004DP 4 channel amplifier
4 ohm stereo 100W x 4
2 ohm stereo 200W x 4
4 ohm mono 200W x 2
2 ohm mono 400W x 2
Audiobahn AW1006T subwoofer
dual voice coil (can be wired 2 ohm in parallel, 4 ohm independent, 8 ohm in series)
power range 50-900 watts RMS (450 watts per coil)
Boston Acoustics SL60
Recommended Amplifier Power: 80watts RMS-220 watts peak
Nominal Impedance: 4 ohm
My questions are thus:
1) Is the 100W per channel too much power for these Boston Acoustics? Boston, on their website, does not list a range of RMS to use, only one specific RMS number, and a peak power handling. It seems to me that amps don't list peak, so I don't know if any particular amp's 100W is going to peak higher than 220W.
2) Is it possible to use the amp in 4 ohm stereo and 2 ohm mono mode at the same time? That is to have 2 outputs at 100W + 4 ohms (Left Front and Right Front) as well as 1 output at 400W 2 ohm (for the sub). Is it even possible to have different outputs run at different impedances, or do all of the amp outputs have to have the same impedence?
3) Is 400W or even 200W going to be too little to power this subwoofer?
Thanks to anyone who can provide some insight... I'm a total newbie at amps.

hey i work in car audio at ultimate electronics
i dont know the specifics of the sub but since it is a dual 4 ohm you want to connect all positives and then connect all negatives which will bring the amp to a 2 ohm load and you will be in good shape as far as your other question you shoulndt ever have the amp try to do two different loads. and with speakers and subs there is no such thing as over powering you just have to be more careful. the bostons will handle whatever you can throw at em 100 would be about perfect.
