Default Amp Install ?'s

How difficult is it to install an Amp? Does the headunit use RCA connectors on the pre-out or Dinn? Does it even have a pre-out or am I stuck using the speaker leads? I ordered an 8 Guage Amp install kit from Buyloud... Will this give me everything I need? Also, where would you recommend the mount? I was assuming the trunk would be the best but am considering under the passenger seat. And finally, how difficult is it to get to the back of the headunit and what it the best way to go about it? I know lots of questions but some of you guys really seem to know your stuff. This ones for the gurus! Thanks

See my webpage for installation/removal of the HU. You won't find enough room under the passenger seat for anything other than the smallest of amps, and the driver's side isn't much better. A couple of options are still open to you, however, such as mounting the amp to a board above the spare tire, removing the spare tire altogether, or placing the amp above the gas inlet tubes.

I can't say if that kit will give you everything you need, but I'm sure it should at least give you MOST of what you need. As matrix said, no pre-outs for the stock HU, but quite a few amps have line-in spots for the speaker wire connection, and those that don't can be used with a line-level converter.

Oh, and so you don't have to ask down the road, the best place to pull power in from the battery is a grommet hiding behind the battery.

i have a pac line level converter for turning the factory speaker wire into the rca output. pm me if you're interested. i have my amp under my seat and it works fine for me. I install one for my friend (hondaguy) behind his seat and it worked out fine for him. he's 5'10" and still has room to clear, so it all depends on how tall you are. But i would really reccomend replacing the headunit if you're gonna spend money on speakers and amp. Might as well get the new headunit, b/c it will sound a whole lot better. b/c i went the same route you're gonna go with, and was not to satisfied. Pm me if you have any questio and maybe i can help you with you're install.
