Default which amp?

Im not an electronics guru by any means but my current set is>
Amp > Soundstream 480.4
Headunit> sony cdxfx7000x
Speakers> infinity Kappa 60.5cs
Sub> Rockford Fosgate stage 2 punch

I want to upgrade my sub to a alphasonik psw810, and i am assuming my amp will not longer be sufficient. So i need a fairley inexpensive amp that will provide enough power.

Soundstream Van Gogh 600.2 can push out 600 watts RMS to a sub for $300:

How inexpensive are you looking for?

the soundstream is only a 2 channel amp correct? i have two amps at my house i could power everything with but i wantd to only run 1 amp, i assume a 4 channel like i have and bridging the sub, but from looking at some amps that seems to get expensive... is there a firley inexpensive.. around 250 or so that is 4 channel that will do what i want?
Thanks
Jon

whats the difference between the cheaper amps that offer essentially the same power output. http://www.millionbuy.com/lcyla690.html alot cheaper and seems to be the same specs. Is it the quality thats better in the more expensive ones? i mean i know you get what you pay for but just curious.

What is it that you want? I answered your original question about powering the alpha sub. Now you want a 5-channel amp for the whole system? Why would you ditch your Van Gogh amp that you already have?

The Van Gogh line is a substantial step up from any big brand amp that you will ever see in a store. The internals are all better, the chassis is solid metal, the RCAs are very high quality, it has no heat issues, and it will produce very fine output (SQ, wise) across the whole power band.

The amp you linked to has terrible performance. I mean worse than cheap MP3 player performance They can lie about their power ratings (there's no way that those numbers are RMS. Assuming it's a class A amp, the unit is not physically large enough to put out 1,000 watts RMS without catching fire.) but they can't lie about their sound quality. In a very good amp you want to see numbers like 110+ signal to noise ratio and a distortion (THD) of well under 0.05%. Your amp claims that it has 20x the measurable distortion in its output. It's likely that even that figure is a bit low since their power ratings are so off. Does that answer your question?

i should have clarified my amp, it is a xta 480.4 , not a van gough, so its not powerful enough when i bridge 2 chanels, its only about 250 watts rms bridged. So, i was asking for a powerful enough 4 channel amp to power my speakers and sub. ive decided to use an old amp i had to power my sub, so ill just use 2 amps for now untill i can afford a good enough 4 channel amp.

Ahh, you need a whopper of an amp for four channels + sub (some won't fit in the trunk vertically). The SS Van Gogh amps will power your fronts + sub with no problems, when you're ready
