Default amp on 01 stock head unit

I have a stock stereo and I want to upgrade the speakers and add an amp. Can this be done and does the stock head unit have RCA jacks?

You can but you shouldn't... and no the stock HU does not have RCA's... they never do.

If your on a budget... upgrade your system in this order:

Headunit
Door speakers
Amp (new wiring for almost everything)
Sound deaden the car (doors and trunk, if you want to go nuts take out the seats and carpet and do the entire floor as well)
Sub + amp to run it
Rear speakers

A complete system for the S2000 runs about $1500-$2000 assuming you install it all yourself.

I really don't want to do a crazy system, I'm looking to just get a little crisper sound and more volume for when I have the top down. Do you still suggest the same?

Yes I do.

The stock setup in the '01' is awful...

However you don't need to do it all at once, you can do it in stages. Nothing says you need to do it all at once. Just do it as cash flow or your needs allow. Adding an HU with new door component speakers will make a world of difference... then adding an amp will be night and day. Just upgrading the HU and door speakers will be a huge change, the amp will make you wonder why you never did it before.... and how Honda could even call the stock system a 'system' at all

You can get a nice HU and speakers for $5-600 bucks, assuming you install it all yourself. Which is VERY easy.

My system...
Head unit: Sony DSXS300BTX with the USB and bluetooth, no CD, $200
Fronts: Alpine Type Rs...$400 I think
Sub: JL 10" with enclosure, $260
Wiring: $100
Amp: Alpine V-power 50*4, $200 I think

All together that's just under $1200. I did it in stages with the amp and sub last...I should have done that sooner.
