Alpine headunits will last for years and years before they have a problem. Pioneers always seem to have problems after a year or so. I've been in car stereos for a long time now and I usually steer away from Pioneer. Alpine anything is good.

Alpine it will be, thanks! Think I'll prescribe myself a "be patient" pill and wait until the new 05 models become available in a couple of months.

i have a 7893 now that I like alot, gonna put it in the S i'm getting asap. however, i'd liek to upgrade to one of the newer models so i can hook the ipod controller up instead of running through my aux in. crutchfield has both the new 9853 & 9855 models listed. are these considered to be the '05 units? I like the biolite on the 9855, but might be forced to go with the 9853 for $$ reasons. don't know yet. inputs?
