Alpine or Polk Components?

I was looking into these as well.
The MM6501's Has higher sensitivity/efficiency than the type R's (94db vs 87db).
The Polk's also have 125 RMS compared to Alpine's 110 but i don't understand why it's peak is 250... lower than Alpine's 330.
Also, will these drop right in?

I have the MM6501"s in my S and I think they sound great. They require a good amount of break-in though. When you first listen to them, you may think that they don't sound very good, but they really open up tremendously after the break-in period. The stock basket must be removed upon installation. The brackets supplied by Polk will work fine in the stock position. I paired mine with an MM series 12" sub and in my opinion it sounds wonderful.

I'm looking for speakers that have a better low frequency response since i wont be running a sub
I think I'm leaning towards the MM6501's though

how is the bass on the MM6501's? What amp are you using with it and how much power are you feeding them?

I have the Polk MM6501s. They will not fit in the stock baskets even if you cut out the back. You'll need to make MDF brackets. I think these speakers sound amazing, even though I'm driving them with the stock '08 HU right now. Some may find them a little bright/harsh, but I like that. You can set the tweeters for -3dB on the xover. With such high sensitivity, they get really loud with a surprising bass. I did just get a Kenwood KDC-X994 HU I'll be installing later though. Even with the stock HU, I'm still happy enough with the volume and bass to not want to add a sub, as ultimate sound reproduction is not my number one priority in this car.
