Alpine Owners: How high does volume go
You know, the volume setting. How high does it go in terms of numbers?
It might sound like a silly question but I haven't gone there yet and I want to know where I am in the useful range.
I have a 9833 using an external amp, internal amp is off. When I get to 23 or 25 or so on the dial I start to get some pain and bleeding from my ears. Actually it starts to sound a little funny either because it's distorting (either the HU is maxed or the amp is clipping), the speakers are at their limit, or the door panels/guts are loose. I can't listen for too long because, well, it's loud and I'm a big chicken.
I know it's not great to use the upper 25% or so of my HU range but at this point I really don't know where that is...
I'll be working on adjusting amp gain and all, and I'm just wondering where I stand right now.

Installed Alpine 9831 with a pair of rear Kenwood Excelon speakers + all stocks speaks, but no amp. Last time I was testing with volume up to 25, very loud already...
