Why do you need odometer readings on your alpine?

Dunno exactly but i got this explanation:

The navigators, reason also on the coming from data from the odometer for being able to be annoying also in case of insufficient cover to satellite (galleries or city canyon).

The ECm is located above the driver's kick panel. The VSS wire(vehicle speed sensing wire or odometer wire) is a blue wire with a white strip which is located in the gray 32 pin plug at pin #9. For reference, the VSS wire is to help track your vehicles location for Nav mode to give you a more accurate display of you location. Hope that this info helps.

I use a program that tells me all of the wiring schematics of cars for alarm installs. This program is pretty reliable. It is made by the company that makes Viper and Clifford alarms with a multitude of other alarms. I trust them. Double check though. I'm sure you should be able to find a wiring schematic for your car. Let me know...

Modifry's instructions for installing his Dash Control Interface show how
to hook it up to a VSS connection on the passenger side that goes to the
convertible top controller. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE CORRECT WIRE
FOR YOUR NEEDS, but maybe this is helpful:
