Default Alpine IDA-X100 Upgrade...

I bought my car with a direct connect into the stock receiver that charges my ipod but I can't use my dash controls to control it. I was debating between just buying the modifry bracket and ipod mount to have easy access to it for $30 or go with a full fledged ipod integrated receiver (i.e. the alpine IDA-X100). I guess my main concern is whether or not the improved sound from the Alpine unit is worth the $250-ish price tag and loss of the controls to the left of the steering wheel. The head unit looks really nice, but I would rather put the cash toward coilovers or such performance parts. But if the sound quality is worth it, I wouldn't mind throwing down some dough on the receiver. But I do not want to upgrade speakers or add an amp, sub, etc.

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated!

I love mine, and I have full dash controls thanks to Modifry's DCi.

Did you notice any significant increase in audio quality by just changing the receiver?
