$40 sounds reasonable. I belive they retail for over $100 new. About fitment, that all depends where you decide to put it but it will fit "somewhere" in the s2000.

As long as the adapter fits the HU, it should be fine.

And you don't have to cram it in the DIN slot, you can wire it underneath the dash. Velcro and zip ties are your friends.

i didnt see that this unit had Ai-Net as an feature.. which is required for the ipod adapter to work.. anyone know? also, how hard is it to remove the factory headunit from the s2k?

what kind of kit do i need to enable the driver side radio controls and how much does it cost?

im gettin the ipod kit + headunit for 170.. does that sound like a good deal?

This should be in the Electronics forum. If you ask over there you're bound to get a definitive answer.

Good, but not a great deal. You can probably find a used one with the DCI to retain dash controls for about that.

Super easy to remove stock HU.

Only if the Hu is fullspeed capable. Otherwise, you need the AI adapter. You can stick it behind the center console glove box where there's plenty of room.

Decent, but you could get a new Alpine HU fopr $200 that is fullspeed capable and add the cable for $30. Imo, the new Alpine HUs (2007) are a HUGE improvement over the previous gen and are well worth the extra $$$ for iPod usability.

If you're not a huge audiofile, Alpine's $150 HU will be fine for you. A 9870 + Fullspeed cable = $180 at msrp - you can prob get the HU for a little less at that. The 9813 is nice for the EQ and other bells, but it is older.
