Alpine Head Unit CDE HD149BT

Alpine Head Unit CDE HD149BT
I've been thinking of upgrading my head unit in the CR to something with a bit more sound quality and some flexibility with iPod, etc. I came across this one. I'm not sure if anyone has this unit in their vehicle? I've been reading the Electronic forums but there just seems to be some much information on so many choices. However, Alpine units seem to be the head unit of choice among many owners. So I've decided on an Alpine unit and that fact that the units merge well with the Modify DCI. It seems to have all the bells and whistles plus a tuning app for iPhones. Any experience and thoughts are welcome.

I am a die hard Alpine fan but just put a DEH 80PRS(Pioneer) in my s2000 because its built in audio processing that the HD149BT doesn't have(3-way active crossover). I have owned a HD149BT and will say that it is a little easier to use from the get go. It does have HD radio where it is not even an option on the 80PRS.

The audio processing allows you to adjust the levels(volume) of each individual speakers as well as the crossover points(frequency range that the speaker plays) and final equalization and time delay settings.
I did not have HD149BT installed in the S2000 but I can tell you confidently that the door clearance will not be an issue. The Pioneer however does get the volume/master control button depressed when closing the radio door firmly.
The HD149BT is a great deck and I wouldn't hesitate to incorporate it in your application. Get yours on Amazon for $223.

This is the exact one that I'm looking at as well.. just dont want to spend on audio just now until I'm done with the rest of the car. I've always had a good experience with Alpine's and was planning on pairing this with their KTP-445a

The 149BT is 4 x 50 amps. Will the Power Pack make the sound that much better? I understand it makes the base tighter and the highs clearer. But it is measurably better unless you upgrade the speakers to maximize the amp to its 4 channel x 45 capacity?

From the reviews I heard the KTP-445a is a great option paired with some decent speakers... great alternative to an amp+sub combo. It's also small so would make for a nice stealth install. Still looking into what speakers to pair it with though

I believe I've landed on a good one that fits my needs and offers a bit more than the Alpine or Pioneer single din HU 's.
