Default Alpine CDE vs. CDA; "Alpineophiles"

To any and all "Alpineophiles":

Can anyone give an explanation between the two Alpine lines CDE and CDA. If so, can a further explanation be done between the better ($$) CDE units and the lower priced ($$$) CDA units?

Comparing the simpler CDE ($) vs. the high-priced CDA units ($$$) is a matter of features and somewhat obvious. It's the middle ground that I am looking for more information.

Thanks.

Just some extra features. The 9856 and the 9852 are almost the same ($30 apart) but the 56 has a few more toys. Get the 56.

I see that a number of people have installed the CDA 9847 in their S2000, I was puzzled to find that Crutchfield says it will not fit. Anyone know why? I do have an email in. In the mean time....

thanks

It fits. Any single DIN headunit fits. The only reason I can come up with is that the volume knob might touch the radio door (when closed)

My friend with an RSX has the 47, and it fit fine in my car.

I have a CDA-9851 that I will be putting up for sale this weekend. Its only 6 months old, and is in MINT condition. I just got a CDA-7995 (for the added tweakability), so I have no need for this HU anymore. I am just looking to re-coupe what the 7995 cost me ($175 + shipping). It retails for between $225-255 new. Like I said....its in MINT condition. No wear on any knobs of buttons, and no scratches (that I can see).

If you are interested, shoot me a PM so I can get you some pics. It also comes with the Alpine wiring harness. In order to get this to work, you will need an Alpine - Honda conversion harness (or you can just splice it into the existing harness, or just remove the wires from the Honda harness and attach them to the Alpine Harness...probably the easiest is the latter of the two). You will also need a DCI to get the console controls to work.

I can walk you through the install as well, if you would like.

Main difference is CDA is Ai-Net compatable, and CDE are not.
