Alpine CDA-9835 Display problem
I've had tons of Alpines for years, but now I am having a problem with the display on my CDA-9835. It gets all Garbled and flickering and static-filled, although sometimes text shows though the moving image. Everything sounds just fine though!
So I call up Alpine. Right off the bat, they tell me that since I bought it online but not at crutchfield, I have no warrantee. The guy is helpful though, suggests I do a reset of it, and clean the contacts. Neither works.
I looked up http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com , where I bought it (see the 'DEALS' thread stickied above). Sure enough, it says 1 year Alpine Factory Warrantee! I call them, and get dumped off to somebody's voicemail, and I figure I'll never hear from them.
20 minutes later, the guy calls back. Yes, Alpine stopped covering the warrantee with them. The Alpines almost never fail, but when they do fail, they just replace 'em with a new one. Then he said if I sent him the tracking number when I send it out, he would ship the replacement immediately!
So I am sending him back my Alpine, and getting a brand new one. That is better than Alpine, who would probably send me someone else's repaired unit back. I went from being very upset to very pleased in .75 of a conversation.
