Alpine CDA 7998 and JL 500/5 (pics)
I decided to upgrade my system. Out with the Sony CDX M750 in with the Alpine CDA 7998. Out with the Xtant 404M in with the JL 500/5. I'm very happy with the changes. I replaced the Xtant only to gain an additional channel for the planned sub, and also to gain 50/channel to the front Boston components. What a difference this made in the sound coming out of the Boston's. I'm still in the process of tuning the CDA 7998.
I installed the headunit per recommendation from Lightning except I used 3 washers on the top two screws and non on the bottom two. The fit is great. No problem with any of the adjustable angles interfering with the operation of the unit.
Here is the amp and its new vented cover.

Excellent setup! Many thanks for the 7998 'in-situ' picture, I'm sure a lot of fellow owners where also waiting to see how good that baby looks in there
The 500/5 ought to work just fine with a pair of lucid's new custom subs (second guessing your amp install ) thanks to the RIPS on the sub channel. PS its 100W per channel for the fronts too
Very tight,
Tif

Head unit looks great PAS2KNut . Were the washers you used thin or thick? Is it not necc. to put washers on the bottom screws? When retracted and car is off can you still close the radio door? Sorry for all the questions, i plan on purchasing this unit within the next couple of weeks, it really does look great. One last question, i heard you mention that you are in the process of tuning the 7998, is this unit user friendly or difficult to navigate?

Hey, I was wondering about the Mobile Hub feature, where you can connect to a Nokia cell phone...do you have it hooked up? I looked on the Alpine website for any info and a list of compatible phones, but it had almost no info...Anything you can provide is appreciated, thanks..

bebahru-- does this Apline work with the Alpine steering wheel interface? I don't believe it works since I don't see a place to plug it in on the unit.

I was told that this feature will not be available till the end of the year. I'm sure someone like Lightning can confirm this.
