Wait what. Took what power? Nothing should be coming out of the fuse box. You should have a power wire, 8g or bigger, coming from the battery and 12v turn on coming from head unit.
an 8ga wire would be overkill for this, i the power lead coming off of the amp is barley 12ga, i will try running a 10ga directly to the battery before i do anything

Eh was drinking late last night when i randomly checked this so yeah, didnt have recollection of what was said. I myself am a fan of overkill when it comes to wiring. I'm running 2/0 to my distro block. Would rather have bigger than run it again if I needed to upgrade.

I have the Alpine KTP-445 amp, bridged to 90w, powering two Polk db6501 components with 100w RMS, 300w peak. This all comes from an Alpine CDE-133BT head unit. It doesn't sound good--not at the volume I need. Today, I am installing an Alpine PDR V75 amp, and I will bridge it to push 200W to my speakers. I will have the gains and the volume low, but I think this is going to vastly improve the sound. I think that KTP amp just doesn't push enough power to my speakers without clipping. Amp specs are notoriously lower than advertised, and speaker specs are often a bit higher, so it's extremely likely that my Polks just aren't getting enough power.

Will check back in later to let you know how it sounds.

This isn't entirely true. Most commonly the problem is they go by max power handling numbers rather than rms power. Very common among lower end brands (Lanzar, Boss, Pyramid, etc) Alpine is pretty true to their ratings. They do rate their amps at 14.4 volts as per CEA certification requirements however depending one what you got running the amp might not be seeing 14.4. You'll see companies rating at 13.8 more now since its a lot more realistic unless you have some beefcake electrical.
